Job Summary: 

Skilled US is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Phlebotomy Instructor to lead training programs for adult learners and opportunity youth aligned to high-demand careers in healthcare.

This role delivers hands-on, industry-aligned instruction that prepares participants for:

  • Industry-recognized certifications (e.g., NHA Certified Phlebotomy Technician)
  • Entry-level healthcare employment
  • Advancement into broader healthcare pathways

In addition to technical instruction, this position integrates career readiness, workplace expectations, and job placement preparation into all training.

Program Focus
Phlebotomy Pathway Includes:
  • Introduction to Healthcare & Patient Care
  • Phlebotomy Fundamentals and Safety
  • Anatomy & Physiology (circulatory system focus)
  • Venipuncture Techniques
  • Capillary Collection Techniques
  • Infection Control & OSHA Standards
  • Specimen Handling, Labeling, and Processing
  • Medical Terminology
  • Professional Communication & Patient Interaction
  • Certification Exam Preparation (NHA or equivalent)
  • Clinical Practice / Externship (if applicable)

Key Responsibilities

Instruction & Curriculum Delivery

  • Deliver high-quality, hands-on phlebotomy instruction aligned to industry standards
  • Prepare learners for national certification exams (NHA CPT or equivalent)
  • Demonstrate and supervise proper blood collection techniques
  • Integrate technical instruction with workforce readiness and employability skills
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of adult learners and opportunity youth

Safety & Lab Management

  • Maintain a safe and compliant lab environment
  • Enforce OSHA, infection control, and bloodborne pathogen standards
  • Ensure proper handling and disposal of sharps and biohazard materials
  • Maintain equipment, supplies, and lab organization

Student & Participant Development

  • Reinforce attendance, professionalism, and workplace expectations
  • Support learners in developing technical competency and confidence
  • Provide coaching on career readiness and job placement
  • Identify and support students at risk of disengagement
  • Track participant progress and outcomes

Employer & Industry Engagement

  • Build relationships with healthcare employers, labs, and clinics
  • Align instruction with employer expectations and hiring needs
  • Support clinical placements, externships, and job pipelines
  • Participate in employer meetings, site visits, and advisory groups

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate attendance, performance, and certification tracking
  • Track clinical hours (if applicable) and competency completion
  • Document workforce readiness milestones and job placement readiness
  • Support WIOA, grant, and compliance reporting requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 2–4+ years of phlebotomy or clinical healthcare experience
  • National certification (NHA, AMT, ASCP) preferred
  • Ability to obtain a Valid Indiana Workplace Specialist License, or eligibility based on 3–5 years of health care industry experience (Skilled US will assist in getting if not current).
  • Strong knowledge of venipuncture and specimen handling procedures
  • Experience working in clinical or laboratory settings
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching or training adult learners or youth
  • Experience in workforce development or healthcare training programs
  • Familiarity with certification exam preparation (NHA CPT)
  • Experience working with diverse or underserved populations
  • Knowledge of healthcare career pathways
