The Opportunity:

Phalen Leadership Academies (PLA) is seeking a skilled and motivated Grant Writer to join our team and play a pivotal role in securing funding for our organization's projects and initiatives. The Grant Writer will be responsible for researching, preparing, and submitting grant proposals to various foundations, corporations, and government agencies. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of grant application processes, excellent writing skills, and the ability to effectively communicate the organization's mission and programs to potential funders.

The Details
Key Deliverables:

  1. Research and Identification:

    • Conduct thorough research to identify potential grant opportunities from various sources, including foundations, corporations, government agencies, and other relevant funding entities.

    • Stay up-to-date with funding trends, guidelines, and requirements in order to match organization projects with suitable grant opportunities.

  2. Proposal Development:

    • Collaborate with internal teams to gather necessary information and data about projects and programs to create compelling grant proposals.

    • Write clear, persuasive, and well-organized grant proposals that effectively communicate the organization's goals, objectives, and impact to potential funders.

    • Customize proposals to align with the specific interests and priorities of each funding source.

  3. Budgeting and Financial Documentation:

    • Work closely with finance and program teams to develop accurate project budgets and financial documentation for grant proposals.

    • Ensure that all budget information is aligned with the funding guidelines and requirements of each grant opportunity.

  4. Application Submission:

    • Manage the entire grant application process, including preparing all required documentation, forms, and attachments.

    • Submit grant proposals within deadlines, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of all application materials.

  5. Relationship Building:

    • Cultivate relationships with grantors, program officers, and funding representatives to enhance the organization's chances of securing funding.

    • Attend relevant networking events, conferences, and workshops to stay connected with the grant writing and fundraising community.

  6. Reporting and Compliance:

    • Assist in the development of progress reports for funded projects, providing accurate and timely information to funders.

    • Ensure compliance with all grant requirements, reporting deadlines, and documentation needs throughout the grant lifecycle.

  7. Continuous Improvement:

    • Evaluate the effectiveness of grant proposals and application processes and identify areas for improvement.

    • Seek feedback from colleagues and stakeholders to refine and enhance grant writing strategies.

Experience and Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., English, Communications, Nonprofit Management).

  • Proven track record of successful grant writing and securing funding for nonprofit organizations or similar entities.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft clear and persuasive narratives.

  • Strong research skills to identify potential funding opportunities and understand the priorities of different grantors.

  • Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

  • Proficiency in budget development and financial documentation for grant proposals.

  • Familiarity with nonprofit programs, impact assessment, and project management concepts.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and build positive relationships with funders.

  • Proficiency in using relevant software tools and platforms for grant research, writing, and submission.

Compensation and Benefits:
PLA's Grant Managers/Writers receive a salary that is competitively aligned with the market. In addition to salary, you will receive:
