School Nurse
The Opportunity: PLA School Nurses provides leadership in planning, implementing, and evaluating the total school health program. Improves, protects, and maintains the health status of children to ensure that each student is in the best state of health possible in order to benefit the most from the educational experiences offered in the school setting.
The Details
Key Deliverables:
- Participates in the development of health related policies
- Develops general procedures to implement policy for the total health program
- Reviews procedures with designated persons for approval prior to implementation
- Submits proposed budget for health program expenditures
- Arranges for training in first aid, CPR, and other related topics for coaches and staff
- Coordinates the maintenance of all health related records
- Maintain daily log of all students seen in the health room
- Dispense medication to students
- Follow established policy and procedures for care of ill and injured students
Experience and Education Requirements:
- Nursing Degree, preferred
- Certification: RN or LPN license, CPR Certification
- Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required
- Previous experience with children, preferred
- Able to pass extensive background check

The Campus:
Hope Community PCS - Tolson is a public charter school in Washington, D.C. that was founded in 2006 and recently joined the PLA network in 2022. We serve about 250 scholars from PK - 8th grade with a school population that is reflective of the strength and diversity of the community in which we are privileged to serve. We pride ourselves on our STEAM-focused learning that results in scholars taking risks, engaging in learning, and having ownership of their education.
