Established in 2011 by NBA Star Jalen Rose and Co-Founder Michael Carter, JRLA is located on the Northwest side of Detroit in the zip code where Jalen grew up. An open enrollment, tuition-free, public charter high school, JRLA provides a leadership-focused education to 420 scholars and nearly 900 alumni. The mission is to empower all scholars to develop the strength of character, skills, and knowledge needed to matriculate, be great in, and graduate from college or a post-secondary program so that they have the opportunities to be successful in the competitive world and take care of themselves and the people they love.
Essential Job Tasks:
Attendance Tracking:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student attendance on a daily basis.
- Monitor and record late arrivals, early dismissals, and absences due to various reasons.
Chronic Absenteeism Monitoring:
- Identify students with patterns of chronic absenteeism and collaborate with school administrators and counselors to develop intervention strategies.
- Generate reports on chronic absenteeism trends and provide recommendations for improvement.
Home Visits:
- Conduct home visits for students with frequent absences or at risk of becoming chronically absent.
- Engage with parents/guardians to understand reasons for absenteeism, provide support, and emphasize the importance of regular school attendance.
Greeting Visitors:
- Welcome and assist visitors at the front desk of the school.
- Provide information and direct visitors to appropriate staff or resources as needed.
Administrative Duties:
- Perform general administrative tasks such as answering phones, responding to emails, and maintaining office supplies.
- Assist with student registration, enrollment, and withdrawal processes.
Communication and Coordination:
- Communicate attendance policies, procedures, and expectations to students, parents, and staff members.
- Coordinate with teachers, counselors, and administrators to address attendance issues and implement interventions.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Analyze attendance data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement.
- Prepare regular attendance reports for school leadership and district officials.
Intervention and Support:
- Collaborate with counselors, social workers, and community resources to provide support services for students and families facing attendance challenges.
- Implement strategies to motivate students to improve attendance and academic performance.
Education and Experience:
- Associate's degree
- Experience in business or office management
