 The Opportunity:

The Manager of Development Operations manages the administrative processes and procedures that enable the fundraising cycle to execute consistently and smoothly. The responsibilities include maintaining key information in SalesForce, the primary donor database, and researching and analyzing individual, corporate, and foundation prospects to produce concise profiles. The role will involve working closely with the fundraising team and reporting to the chief philanthropy officer. The work provides critical information needed to secure funding in
support of Phalen Leadership Academies.

Essential Job Tasks:

  • Prepare concise, in-depth donor prospect briefs and donor summary report on individuals, corporations, and industry sectors for use by CEO, CPO and fundraising team.
  • Post information in the donor database; assist with managing prospects, exploring enhanced use, and in maintenance of data in the database.
  • Prepare donor and prospect reports, retrieving and analyzing data from the database.
  • Leads prospect portfolio review meetings with development officers.
  • Works on special projects as needed, including but not limited to capital projects, assisting with prospect management projects, and preparing biographical information for development events attendees.
  • Oversee all reporting systems and processes, including regular and ad-hoc reports.
  • Coordinate with the IT department for needed support and ensure proper maintenance, software updates, and backups are occurring.

Minimum Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred in library and information studies or nonprofit management.
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years of operations experience​ in a not-for-profit environment.
  • Experience using Salesforce as a CRM is highly valuable for this role.
  • Experience us research tools such as iWave and Foundation Directory is preferred.
  • Superior written and oral communication skills in working with confidential data. 
  •  Ability to balance multiple priorities in a complex environment.
