 The Opportunity:


The Youth Program Coordinator is responsible for developing and managing work-based learning (WBL) opportunities for K-12 students, ensuring they are equipped with the skills and experiences needed for successful career pathways. This role includes building strong employer partnerships, coordinating student placements, and supporting educators in integrating real-world learning experiences into their curriculum. The Coordinator will play a key role in bridging education and industry, providing students with hands-on experiences in their chosen fields.


The Details
Work-Based Learning & Employer Engagement:

  • Research, recruit, and secure youth-specific employment opportunities with local businesses and industry leaders.
  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships with employers, trade unions, and community organizations to create diverse career opportunities for students.
  • Represent Skilled US programs at networking events, job fairs, and industry meetings.
  • Coordinate and organize on-site and off-site employer visits to develop career opportunities for students.
  • Oversee the WBL process, from initial employer outreach to final student placement and ongoing support.
  • Ensure compliance with all guidelines, including job qualifications, training plans, and documentation for students.
  • Conduct worksite visits to monitor student progress, provide feedback, and offer guidance to students and employers.
  • Research labor market trends to align WBL opportunities with the needs of local industries.
  • Report student progress, trends, and partnership outcomes to school leadership and program managers.


Teacher Support:

  • Assist educators in integrating WBL into their curriculum to enhance student learning.
  • Help teachers organize career-related activities, such as guest speakers, industry panels, job shadowing, and site visits.
  • Collaborate with staff to organize career readiness events such as workshops and college visits.


Compliance & Administration:

  • Negotiate and manage all WBL documentation, including training plans, job descriptions, wages, and timelines.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations governing work- based learning and employment for students.
  • Track and report on student placements, employer feedback, and worksite evaluations to ensure program success.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, changes in legislation, and best practices related to workforce development through ongoing professional development.


Experience and Education Requirements:

  • The ideal candidate for the Youth Program Coordinator role will possess the following qualifications:
  • Passion for Youth Career Readiness: A strong commitment to supporting students in their career development and preparing them for success in the workforce.
  • Relationship-Building Skills: Ability to build and maintain meaningful relationships with employers, educators, and students to foster collaboration and create opportunities.
  • Understanding of Career Pathways: A clear understanding of various career pathways and the ability to guide students toward enrollment in higher education, employment, or military enlistment based on their strengths and interests.
  • Organizational and Administrative Expertise: Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, coordinate events, and ensure compliance with all relevant documentation and regulations.
  • Work closely with school counselors to support students in identifying career pathways, setting achievable goals, and preparing for post-graduation success.
  • CTE (Career and Technical Education) experience is a plus

Education, Certification, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, education, communications, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working with youth is preferred.
  • Experience in career coaching, workforce development, or employer engagement is highly desirable.
