Job Summary:  As a Master Teacher at Phalen Leadership Academies, you are responsible for ensuring that all scholars master both the academic and social skills necessary to succeed.   You will set ambitious goals for student achievement and hold our scholars accountable for accomplishing those goals.   As a Master teacher, you will mentor new teachers, lead professional learning communities (PLCs), contribute to curriculum planning, and facilitate workshops.

Essential Job Tasks: 

  • Implementation of differentiated instruction, formative assessments, and creating inclusive learning environments
  • Analyze student data and adjust instruction to improve outcomes
  • Implement creative and research-based teaching methods
  • Build strong relationships with families and contribute to community outreach
  • Maintain positive evaluations from administrators and peers, including classroom observations
  • Design and deliver daily lessons and instructional material to assigned scholars to support both whole group lessons and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the learning needs of each scholar ensuring 100% of scholars meet their projected growth goals in both ELA and Math
  • Identify, record, and reflect on student needs and cooperate with the professional learning community to assess, plan, monitor, and implement methods to solve student health, attitude, and learning concerns
  • Establish and maintain high standards of student behavior needed to achieve an optimal learning atmosphere in the classroom, maintaining 80% or greater of scholars throughout the year
  • Provide a functional and attractive environment in the classroom conducive for learning and aligned with the curriculum ensuring 85% scholar satisfaction on classroom surveys
  • Adhere to PLA’s behavior policy
  • Administer assessments in a variety of forms (formative, summative, standardized, etc.) in accordance with PLA’s testing programs
  • Analyze student data to identify needs and work with the teaching team, including other teachers, to maximize student success
  • Evaluate students’ academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, prepare student reports, and communicate with parents regarding their child’s progress
  • Communicate with parents, administration, and colleagues in a timely, effective manner
  • Actively participate in professional development and the professional learning community
  • Share in the sponsorship of student activities and participate in faculty committees as agreed upon
  • Other duties as assigned

     Minimum Job Qualifications: 

  • A passion for working with students and families in under-served communities 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education & active teaching license in elementary education
  • Master’s or Doctorate in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or a related specialty; preferred
  • 5+ years of successful classroom teaching experience, with a focus on elementary education
  • High proficiency of grade-level standards, benchmarks, and curriculum 
  • Experience tracking and using data to drive instruction
  • 3+ years of experience mentoring new teachers, leading PLCs, or providing instructional Coaching

  • Strong communication skills
  • Demonstrated success in organizational and technology skills
  • Proven track record of effective teaching, including effective and highly effective evaluation ratings, student growth data, and demonstrated impact on student learning
  • Mastery of specific instructional strategies, classroom management techniques, or subject area expertise
  • Proven experience as a teacher
  • Thorough knowledge of teaching best practices and legal educational guidelines partnered with a willingness to follow the school’s policies and procedures

Compensation and Benefits:

PLA Master Teachers receive a base salary that is competitively aligned with the market. In addition to a base salary, PLA School Teachers receive: 

  • Competitive Compensation - Salary for qualified credentialed teachers is $95,000 + Annual $5,000 bonus
